About Us
Made by my mom.
KOUKLA is named after my mom's granddaughters. Koukla is Greek for "doll," and it's what she calls every one of them. To her grandkids, she's Youla.
My mom is Greek, and she has been a creative her whole life. She learned to knit and crochet as a child, but her creativity has never stayed in one place. It's in the way she cooks, the way she plates food, the way she sets a table for the whole family. She was a stay-at-home mom who took care of everyone, and she still does, feeding her kids and grandkids along the way. When she isn't dropping off food, she's crocheting.
Every Koukla piece is made by her hands, one at a time, in Vancouver: the bags, the earrings, the rings, the shawls. She never makes the same piece twice, so when one is gone, it's gone.
I’m Rana, her daughter, and I bring her work to you: the photos, the shop, the packing, the emails. If you write to us, it's me who answers.
Wear it with jeans. Take it to dinner. And when someone stops you to ask where you found it, tell them a Greek mom in Vancouver made it, with the same care she puts into everything.
